Founded in Little Neck, New York shortly after Word War II. It originated as a carpet cleaning and floor waxing business servicing both in Queens and Nassau County. With success came growth, which resulted in the selling of carpet, linoleum and tile to the same clientele utilizing its cleaning services. The success of both businesses necessitated moving to larger quarters in Bellerose starting with a residential floor covering showroom and then adding an adjacent warehouse to diversify the operation and to provide a large inventory of floor covering products.

In 1984, the business was sold to the present owners, Steve Becker and Sam Borod, which marked the commencement of a commercial flooring operation. Sam, coming out of corporate America, called upon old relationships with IBM, Verizon and Publishers Clearing House, and the commercial business flourished with substantial new floor covering contracts being written for installations throughout the tri-state area.

Today, Prince operates out of a larger facility on Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park which houses an impressive residential showroom that displays all the latest fashions and styles of carpet – patterned, plushes, berbers and saxonys – delivered directly from all the major mills in the country. Under the same roof it operates its commercial business with a vast library of sample books for designers, specifiers, architects and end users to review with selecting that latest styles for offices, stores, schools and restaurants. At this location there is a broad array of floor covering products, both residential and commercial, sold at dramatically reduced prices as a result of merchandise being purchased from manufacturers’ excess inventories. Included in this inventory is one of the largest selections of carpet tile which is a durable and flexible flooring product frequently used in the commercial floor covering market. The entire stock of floor covering products is not only discounted but is also available for immediate installation.
